Who, what, where, when.

This will be a summary of a long in the thought and relatively short in the planning trip of a group of friends from different places in Europe all descending upon Islay at the end of May for the Islay Whisky Festival (Fèis Ìle) for 2012. I’m sure you’ll discover who the characters are as we go along but for the time being, let’s just say that there are seven of us in total and the breakdown include two from Aberdeen, two from Maidstone and three  coming from a smallish village about an hours drive from Frankfurt.       Some of us will be driving, some will be flying but we’ll all be staying in the same house that we’ve rented for the week. Take several whisky lovers and eventually the idea for a trip to savour and sample the whisky offerings that Islay have to offer is bound to come up.   This trip came about when Al decided that for her 50th she’d like to go to the Fèis Ìle.    Quite a few of us were up for it initially and some those who fell by the wayside with sad excuses such as “it’s mid-term I’ve got kids to teach” and other tales just as long.   So anyway – Al is now 50 and we’ve decided that this year is the year so we’re all geared up to go. The flights, the ferries and the accommodation are booked;  this leaves in alphabetical order Al, Caroline, Craig, Garson, Heather, Ralf and Wolfgang to enjoy the week. Hope you enjoy reading about our exploits.
